The Santa Clarita Velo Club’s Weekly Ride
The Santa Clarita Velo would like to invite you to join their peleton on its regular Saturday and Sunday club road rides. The group meets 8:00am at Performance Cyclery located at 26067 Bouquet Canyon Rd. (Phone: 661-254-4008) As the oldest riding club in the valley, the distinctive blue, white and red “kit” is worn by cyclists of all ages and abilities. You don’t need to be a member however, to participate in their rides. Just come by Performance and join in.
Helmets are required on all rides. Be ready for anything – bring your own gloves, tire pump, spare tube and/or patch kit, money, ID, food and water. All are welcome; to participate, you should be comfortable with a 15 MPH pace on a level road and be able to “ride a straight line.” Rides are neutral through the city, then split into ability groups. The Club has many experienced riders and tries to by courteous and most of all safe. Everyone stops for mechanicals and flats, and each ride typically has a midway gathering point for the return leg.
It is a great way to sharpen your riding skills, improve your fitness and have a good time!
The Calendar is published monthly on the Club’s website and is also posted at the shop. The routes vary in difficulty and are typically 30-60 miles “out and back” with some climbing through the scenic parts of our beautiful valley.
