Update On Boy Who Was Hit on McBean and Summerhill
Tristen Bizzaro is the little boy that was hit by a car on McBean and Summerhill a few weeks ago. I think about him every time I drive by that intersection and wonder how he is doing.
His aunt has left a comment for me, but I think it deserves it’s own post. Here is an update on his condition.
I am Tristen Bizzaro’s Aunt and would like to update everyone on his condition. He is a living breathing miracle and proof that the power of prayer is divine! Just this morning, 10-1-2007, he started speaking again! All with his jaw wired! He wants to know when his dad will bring his Bionicles to the hospital so he can play with them! He is expected to make a full recovery after a year of therapy, but Tristen already has plans to smash that projected timeline. Thank you to everyone who has sent their prayers and good vibes. He (We) feel it everyday and PLEASE don’t let your kids out of the house on anything mobile WITHOUT A HELMET !!!!!!!
Thank you so much Amy for keeping us all posted. We will continue to pray for his speedy recovery.

Some further info regarding Tristen:
This is Jimmy, Tristen’s dad. Yesterday, my first day back to work, I received a call from my mother at the hospital. “Jimmy, someone wants to talk to you”. “Hi, daddy”, I heard from the phone. I could hardly believe my ears. “Hi buddy”, I said. “How are you?”. “Daddy,” he said, “can you come to the hospital so we hang out and watch a movie?”. “Okay buddy”, I said. “And could you bring me some Bionicles”. ”Ok, buddy” I said. ”Sweet”, said Tristen. My boss (who has been incredibly supportive) told me to get out of there and get to the hospital. It’s hard to describe the feeling I got when I heard his voice talking to me as if it was any other day. I truly felt God’s love and grace soar into my body and I immediately began to praise and thank Him. It feels like a miracle considering the circumstances. I truly believe, it was by the power of prayer. Tristen has multitudes of prayer groups, churches and just caring people praying for him all over the world. I heard reports from friends and family that Churches in the Phillipines and Argentina were praying for him. Multiple churches in the Santa Clarita valley including my sister’s home church, Valencia Hills, where Pastor Mike and others came to visit and pray. My home church, Inland Hills Church in Chino, was hard at work in spreading the word to all the small groups and prayer teams. Pastor Mike and Pastor Bob came out to pray with us. Pastor Mike prayed with my mother to help her overcome her guilt and trust in God’s plan. They also made prayer quilts for Tristen and my mom (http://www.prayerquilt.org ). My wife’s small group visited bringing food, blankets, toys for my other children, gift cards and words of comfort. Other churches of every denomination all over and in my home town of Chino Hills were praying as well and his name was in St. Paul’s bulletin requesting prayers. Amazing how the body can move and come together in times of need and crisis. People came such as my wife’s “mom’s” club helping out with the care of our other children and bringing us food. So many our friends were there offering their help and prayers; there are too many to name. Our families have been there through the whole ordeal bringing us food, comfort and support. The man who hit him (wasn’t his fault) came to visit Tristen twice. I’ve had calls from the Sheriff’s department, the Fire Department and people who attended to him on the helicopter calling to check his condition. It’s definitely a reflection of God’s love within all of us. I also have to mention the simply wonderful and caring doctors and nurses at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. God made sure Tristen went to the right place to be treated for his injuries. Amazingly, Suzie, the night charge nurse at LACH, lives in Chino Hills and is a member of our home church. She was incredibly caring and comforting to have there and she made sure Tristen had the best nurses and care possible. As you can see, although God let this happen, he went to work right away to make sure Tristen recovered and was in the best care possible. After Tristen was struck by the vehicle, an off duty paramedic began attending to him right on the scene. An off duty Sheriff began to do crowd control. People who witnessed the accident or arrived shortly after began silent prayer around the scene. When the call was made to the helicopter, it was already lifting off to a training mission so it was in flight immediately. His trip to Children’s hospital took 7 minutes. As you can imagine, when we received the initial phone call, it felt like our world collapsed. After a brief time, my wife began to lean on her faith and trust in God. She went into “God has a plan” mode and gained strength as time went on. Her example gave me the strength to trust in God and give it all to Him. This faithfulness spread through my family as we all held hands and prayed together, including my own somewhat agnostic mother. She asked for God’s forgiveness and accepted Jesus into her heart. My wife and I, as well as my sister, who have been Christians for some time and have been unable to reach her. She calls Tristen her guardian angel. It will take time for Tristen’s full recovery, but I now know it’s going to happen by God’s grace. He is scheduled to have the wires removed from his jaw today (Tuesday). He’ll be moving to a rehab center somewhat closer to home this week to begin his treatment. It’s amazing how many things have fallen into place after something so terrible has happened and how many good things are coming out of it. I know Tristen’s story will serve as a great testimony in days to come. We love Tristen more than words can say, but I know, although it’s hard to comprehend, that God loves him even more.
