The Garden Spot

I had lunch at The Garden Spot on the corner of Newhall Ranch Rd and Copperhill (next to Chipotle). If you’re in the mood for a fresh and healthy lunch, I highly recommend The Garden Spot.

They have some great choices as far as healthy food goes. They prepare delicious fresh tossed salads that are really tasty and quite big. Sharing one might be a good idea unless you are starving.

They offer salads, baked potatoes, salads on a bun and wraps. We had the Cobb and the Chicken Tortilla Salad. They offer 13 different salad dressings (I recommend the Mint-Lime Cilantro-Yum!)

The Garden Spot is located at:

  1. I had a barbecue chicken baked potato there, and it was so-so at best. They take a cold potato, throw on some cold pre-mix bbq sauce with a bit of chicken in it, and zap it in the microwave. I was disappointed to say the least, especially since they billed themselves as “healthy”, which to me means that not everything is nuked.

I’ll be sticking to BJ’s for my stuffed baked potatoes ($7.55 for 1/2 a mega-potato and soup or salad), and you can call ahead for easy take-out.

Glad the salads are good - maybe I’ll give them one more shot at living up to their advertising.

  2. Went there and was also somewhat disappointed. It says it is a healthy choice…but they offer you artificial “bacon bits” with the cobb salad. The bleu cheese dressing was not fresh and was not that great tasting. I love the concept, just was hoping for fresher, healthier food. For this kind of salad, I can go to a drive through. Maybe they’ll make adjustments and turn it around. Hope so. :)

  3. I love the garden spot. I go there at least once week, but definetly like the one in Canyon Country more than in valencia. The salads and wraps are truly amazing. My favorite is the Asian chicken salad; it is also great wrapped!

  4. The Garden Spot on Golden Valley Road has mediocre food. The manager or order taker or whatever his title there is the rudest person I have ever encountered in Santa Clarita. I would never return there and would not encourage anyone to visit there.

  5. I tried the Garden Spot in Canyon Country today. Was excited as the ingredients looked so fresh. Especially when I saw that they had a cilantro dressing. Unfortunately I can taste a bitter cumin flavor but no mint nor cilantro. I’m one to enjoy wherever I dine, but this salad was not very good. I would be tempted to just do Rattler’s or Wana Iguana’s take out as their cilantro salads and dressings are great! Even driving to Valencia for Stonefire.. I would even take the salad home and make my own dressing - I hope that they improve in the future as I like their concept.

  6. to think I can feed a family of four at home with how much I spent on just one potato. and that includes dessert!

  7. I’ve been eating there at least 2x a week because of work and love it. Food’s always fresh, staff is friendly, and it’s funny, but my favorite is the chicken tortilla salad with the mint-cilantro dressing because it tastes exactly like it sounds…in fact, the manager was telling me it’s their best-seller behind the chinese chicken salad w honey mustard. I tried bringing lunch from home, but it ends up being just as much and not as good.

  8. I could not decide whatto have, Chipotle or The Garden Spot, however I made a really bad choice and went for the Garden Spot as I had never eaten there before! They are on the high price side and I got nothing for it not to mention they left out the”fresh” food. I sat with much disappointment as I watched patrons walk into Chipotle.

The service was “ok” and felt maybe the staff was new and I sat in there all alone! I guess that should have been my first hint on how the food was.

    Good Luck to the them.

  9. I was about to go to the Valencia one, until I read this thread with some of the negative feedback! Maybe when I’m not so hungry and feel like adventure.

  10. I love this place. I could eat here daily. Its cheap, fast and fresh. I always get the chunky tuna salad, minus the eggs, add mushrooms and the Mint, Cilantro & Lime dressing. Yum! They give you more salad than any one person can eat. There are always cupons in the scv monthly mailers where you buy one get one free. I usually get one for dinner and save the other one for lunch the following day. I feel really bad that so many people had a bad experience here, but I have been here close to maybe 35 times and not one bad experience.
