Old Town Newhall Has Mural Unveiling
Three major businesses in Old Town Newhall will be getting a new look after murals are unveiled on their walls on August 28th at 2PM.
The El Trocadero will have a mural of a California Vaquero painting, the Source will have a Walk of Western Stars, and the Work Boot Warehouse will have a history of the Santa Clarita’s Southern Hotel on their wall.
The murals are a project between the City of Santa Clarita’s Arts and Events Office and the Newhall Redevelopment Agency. Thirty different artist proposals for the Newhall Mural Project were looked at by the Santa Clarita Arts Advisory Committee - local artists Victoria Sulski and Peter Bartczak were selected for the Walk of Western Stars mural, Nicole Ponsler was selected for the California Vaquero mural, and Frank Rock was chosen to paint the history of the Santa Clarita’s Southern Hotel.
Mayor Marsha McLean says, "The City of Santa Clarita is thrilled to showcase these magnificent canvases of art depicting the beauty and historic points of interest of Newhall. The murals will serve to visually simulate the environment of the Newhall Arts and Theatre District while developing new attractions that are representative of Newhall’s history and character."
The mural project is the latest step in revitalizing Old Town Newhall, a 271-acre area in the heart of Santa Clarita which contains many historic places of interest as well as a Metrolink station, two theaters and the SCAA Art Gallery.

I want to thank the City of Santa Clarita for re-directing traffic through our small community off of San Fernando Road and Market Street. Thanks for all the noise and smog that your traffic planners have created. Thanks for us not being able to let our children play outside anymore, thanks for the speeders who use our community to cut through to Lyons, thanks for making our community a undeserable place to live!!!
