North Fire Under Control

Officials have confirmed that most of the 2,100 acre North Fire that was burning east of Acton has been contained by firefighters.

By Thursday the fire was reported to be at 81 per cent containment, and full containment should be achieved today.

The fire started on Saturday afternoon in the Angeles National Forest, resulting in 25 homes on Soledad Canyon being evacuated and causing massive delays on the I-14 freeway.

Approximately 850 personnel, 30 engines, 26 hand crews, 16 aircraft, 11 water tenders and 10 dozers were used to contain the fire which has so far caused over $1.9 million to contain.

If you’ve been anywhere near Central park, I’m sure you’ve seen the set up they have over there.

The cause of the fire is unknown, although local residents suggest that lightning may have sparked the flames.
