SCV Hits A Record Fiscal Year in Films
The Santa Clarita Film Office is celebrating after announcing a record-breaking 2006-2007 Fiscal Year for location filming in the Santa Clarita Valley.
According to the Film Office, the 2006-2007 year showed a 26% increase in film days (852 altogether) as well as 311 film permits granted within the City of Santa Clarita (a 9% increase overlast year).
Santa Clarita is currently the filming location for several hit TV shows, including “Big Love”, “Deadwood", “John from Cincinnati", “24”, “Weeds, “Monk", and "Without a Trace”.
Thanks to the frequency with which the shows use Santa Clarita as a location, Santa Clarita businesses have benefited from over $21 million as a direct result.
The City of Santa Clarita Film Office is also celebrating the recognition it has received from the California Association for Local Economic Development (CALED), which called their film program the “best economic development program in the state.”
According to the Film Office, the record breaking success of 2006-2007 is a result of the heavy promotion the office has undertaken to highlight the many benefits of location filming in Santa Clarita.
Santa Clarita Mayor Marsha McLean says,“We are proud to be one of Southern California’s most filmed and film-friendly cities. Santa Clarita is committed to helping the film industry thrive, not only because of the economic benefits and world-wide recognition, but also because more work in our City translates to more locally-based jobs for our residents who work in the industry.”
