Waste of Parking Spaces

I was recently up at the shopping center on Haskell Cyn and Seco.  While I was driving around looking for a place to park I noticed these…

From what I could tell these were parking spaces reserved for motorcycles.  Since they were all empty, but all the other spots were full I can only assume this is a total waste of space.  I think 2-3 cars could’ve parked there if they were marked accordingly.

I had no idea motorcycle parking was so hard to come by.

If anyone knows why these spots are like this, please enlighten me.

Owner, Donna Collins shares a little bit about what the Party Wishes experience is about.

Remember when birthday parties were small, intimate gatherings at home with your best friends, you actually played games together and opened your presents in front of your guests? These are the memories Party Wishes wants to provide you and your child. Party Wishes provides parents with everything they need to have a beautiful, unique and stress-free celebration at your location. Party Wishes provides all the table decorations, plates, utensils, games, favors and costumes for an “old-fashioned” party so you can have all the fun! No need to run all over town, spend money on expensive decorations you will never use again or hours on the computer finding unique favors.
Party Wishes has done all of this for you with a modern twist.

Party Wishes designed their 15 theme parties to stress the importance of personal interaction and creativity. Children will interact with each other through simple and fun games that they will want to play over and over. With the tea party themed parties such as Lady Bumble’s or French Poodle tea party, children will learn social graces that have seemed to disappear in recent years. The Spa Girlz party teaches young girls the importance of taking care of themselves while the Make-A-Bear and Puppy parties teach the children creativity and to care for others.

The newest theme from Party Wishes is the Mary Poppins Tea Party. Guests will decorate kites, have a spoon full of sugar race and stuff their own penguins to take home. They can even pretend that the tea party is on the ceiling! Party Wishes can also refer catering and photography services for your event.

Party Wishes provides hosting services or you may go at your own pace, and host the party yourself. Just pick a theme, buy a cake and let Party Wishes take care of the rest! Party Wishes is committed to creating happy childhood memories for you and your child because a happy childhood lasts forever!

Westfield Town Center Has Brain Fart

While frantically running around doing my Christmas shopping last weekend I ended up at my beloved Westfield Town Center to purchase some gifts cards.

I went to the stand located in the middle of the mall by Starbucks (where they have sold their gift cards for over a year) and asked to make a purchase.  I was told that they no longer sell them there and that I needed to go to the gift card sales center over by Sears.

Slightly irritated, I head back in that direction (that I had just come from) only to find that the gift cards are being sold from inside a shoe store.  Yes that’s right, from inside a shoe store.  So when the line for gift cards gets long, it forms inside a shoe store where people are trying to shop and try on shoes.

Gimme a break guys.  Why’d ya move the gift card spot there?  Could there have been a worse spot?  The location in the middle of the mall was perfect and if you wanted to avoid long lines there, hmmm maybe move the baby strollers over by JCPenney?

Thumbs down from me to whoever the genius was that thought of this.

    City Gets an RSS Feed

The City of Santa Clarita gets internet savvy and adds an RSS feed (Real Simple Syndication) to their website.  Millions of sites use RSS feeds to keep their readers up to date with new content posted to their site daily.

By adding the city to your feed reader, you can stay up to date with news the city is posting as it comes live rather than having to remember to go check out their site.

If you are not currently using a feed reader, maybe this would be a good opportunity for you to give it a shot.  This is what your update would look like through iGoogle.

Recommendation to the city … DON’T USE ALL CAPS.  It’s not very friendly in the online world and appears as SHOUTING! :)

To download the city’s feed go here. If you don’t have a feed reader that you use, when you go to download the feed, more than likely you’ll get something like Google reader that will open up and ask you to open an account (iGoogle) so you can download the feed.

While you’re at it, add this Santa Clarita news feed to your daily reader as well. :)

    Central Bark

Yes that’s Central BARK, not park. :)

Beginning this Friday Santa Clarita dog lovers will be able to take their precious pooches to Central Bark.  A newly created dog park located in the back of Central Park.

The dog park is temporary until the permanent one opens over by the Sports Complex, but until then residents have a whopping 1.3 acres of land for their pups to play around in.

This new park is off-leash and there is supposed to be a separate space for small dogs.

    Todd Longshore Park to Open

The City of Santa Clarita is having a grand opening celebration and is inviting residents to come join in on the fun to launch the new 32-acre Todd Longshore Park on Saturday, December 15, 2007 at 11:00 a.m., located at 28151 Whites Canyon Road (at Whites and Canyon Crest) in Santa Clarita.

Todd Longshore was one of the first commissioners to serve the city’s park commission.  He passed away last year suddenly, but is sure to be remembered with this beautiful 32-acre park named after him.
