Canyon High Creams Golden Valley 90-0
Okay, so it’s pretty obvious based on their record that Canyon High has the best varsity football team in the SCV. We all know it, no one is saying otherwise, so why? They are the team to beat blah blah blah. So why in the world would the coaches allow the score against Golden Valley to run up 90-0? I can’t even imagine the scenario. I wasn’t there, I didn’t see. All I know is there must have been a way to prevent such an embarrassment to these poor kids from Golden Valley.
I mean they are a new high school, they don’t have the reputation it takes for families to fill out the intra district transfers to go to their school for sports. We know. It will take a while. So why did Canyon have to shove it in their face? Were they trying to break some record? Where they trying to hit the 100 mark? Did they think they were playing basketball?
Regardless, I am putting this out for some comments. Maybe somebody can enlighten me and tell me what the hell was the reasoning behind this lack of sportsmanship and complete ass whipping? Like I said, I wasn’t there, I didn’t see it. All I know is the final score 90-0. It’s offensive…in more ways than one.
Grand Panda Chinese Restaurant
Best Chinese food in Santa Clarita in my opinion is Grand Panda. Yum! We went to the one located at the corner of Seco and Copperhill. Not only was there no wait on a Friday night, but the food was great.
They have a great special for $14.95 per person that includes won ton soup, a few appetizers and your choice of two entrees. We had the Imperial Shrimp which is shrimp in garlic sauce and Moo Shi Pork.
The service was good, the food was great and we even had leftovers.
Grand Panda has another location on Lyons in Newhall that we have eaten at before, but from my recollection it was usually pretty crowded.
Canyon Country Home Burns Down
I feel so sad for these poor people. There are few things worse than seeing your home burned to a crisp.
Apparently, yesterday in Canyon Country that’s exactly what happened to a local family.
The firefighters believe that the fire originated in the back of the house. One of the kids came home from school to discover her home engulfed in flames. Fortunately, they have some family they can stay with locally while they get their life back together.
About 6 or 7 years ago, a home down the street from where we lived back then burned down. The home belonged to an older gentleman that had his son and grandson living with him. Apparently, in the back of the house they had a snake in an aquarium with heat lamps. The lamp started the fire. It was such a horrible thing to happen and it happened just about a week before Christmas as well.
My kids make fun of me, but this past summer, I took a video inventory of my home. I mean they talk about it all the time on the news, so I figured I may as well just do it. It took about 15 minutes. I just walked around opened all the cabinets and started recording. Gave the tape to my mother in law and hopefully, I’ll never need it.
Canyon Country Teen Shot
Just when I thought I’d heard it all.Apparently yesterday in Canyon Country a teen was allegedly breaking into a local residence. The female occupant of the home shot the intruder three times. Twice in the gut and once in the leg. The burglar, who I suppose in some liberal camp could be called a victim now, turned to his getaway car who was occupied by none other than his mother. Yes, his mother.
Reacting as any normal mother would whom just had her son shot while he was committing a crime, she flagged down police. Incidentally, the cops were on their way to the home in question to investigate the crime. After putting two and two together, the mother of the year was arrested and the teen lays in fair condition at Henry mayo expected to recover. He is said to be arrested as soon as he is released from the hospital.
Could these be nominated for the Darwin Award? We’ll I suppose, but the only problem is they’re still breathing. Maybe someday.
Magic Mountain New Rules
As of January 2007 Magic Mountain will be changing their image.
After years of struggling financially, the theme park wants to appeal to more families. Over the past ten years, I believe since 93 actually when they had a riot there, the park has attracted a gang type attendance. Kids get dropped off there and parents do not supervise behavior. Magic Mountain has adopted some new rules to try and tone down the malicious and gang-like behavior they see at their amusement park.
Some of the new rules are as follows:
No going shirtless-I assume this means men too?
No bathing suits outside of Hurricane Harbor
No foul language or inappropriate behavior.
No line cutting. (Hasn’t this always been a rule?)
I like the thought behind this, but really I think if they want to appeal more to families, they need to add more attractions that are geared toward the younger kids. I know they have the kids area there already, but the little ones can go through there in an hour and be bored with it.
I will predict now a news story in the future once these rules take place that some one will accuse them of racial profiling…just a feeling I have, we’ll see if I’m right.
Anyway, I’m all for it…but I don’t see a realistic way to monitor it consistently.
Handyman in SCV
Sorry I haven’t blogged lately. I’ve been busy trying to rent a house by Henry Mayo. I’ve had a pretty hard time finding a handyman. There are a few in the Signal, but one didn’t want to give me an estimate, said it wasn’t worth his time. The other didn’t call me back.
I called another guy today that had an 818 area code. He called me back within a couple of hours. He’ll be there on Friday to quote me on the job. Sounds like it’ll work out. I’ll keep you posted.
Desperate Housewives
Local teen makes his debut on Desperate Housewives.
If you were watching the show Sunday night 10/15/06, there was a scene where Lynette’s son hit a deep fly ball to the outfield. While he was running the bases you would’ve seen the clip of Cody, local Rio Norte student behind the plate.
I’ve known this kid for years and it was really cool to see him on the big screen.
