Santa Clarita High School Football

Well, it’s time!  Football season has started in the SCV.  All the local high schools have their first varsity games tomorrow 9/1.

Friday night lights in Valencia means only one thing.  It’s time for high school football games.  Santa Clarita residents really look forward to the games for both the competition and the social aspect as well.  It really brings out families and friends to hang out while supporting your local school.  The stadiums are usually pretty full and the crowds usually go wild.  There are always the “big” games when our local high schools play each other.  Who could forget the upset last year when Valencia beat Hart at COC.  I mean really, I think the entire town was there.  If you’re a Vikings fan, check out this article in the Signal yesterday.

I’ll have my eye on the Vikings vs Centennial game at Valencia High School and the Hart vs St. Bonnie at COC.

Get Your Dog Out of My Starbucks!

I love dogs.  I have two of my own.  However, I do not take my dogs into eating establishments.  I mean, it’s rude.  So what makes some people think that they can take their dog into an eatery?  I have no clue other than they must be clueless.

So I’m in Starbucks this morning in Granery Square and this man comes in with his beagle.  Now the beagle looked like he had had one too many Frappucino’s himself.  At any rate, the man picks up his dog and walks up to the counter and orders his drink.  (So now the dogs paws are hanging all over the counter.)  Meanwhile saying to the clerk…”Oh, I am so sorry to bring my dog in, but I’m by myself.”  Well, duh!!  So this guy apparently thinks that since he’s by himself, he can be rude and bring his dog in where people are eating and making drinks, etc.  I mean it’s just gross.  Dogs walk around areas all over sniffing and touching other dogs poop.  Some dogs eat their poop for crying out loud.  So I don’t want a dog that could be tracking in poop anywhere that is supposed to be somewhat sanitary.

So, if you’re by yourself and you have your poochie with you, please have some common courtesy and eat and drink before you leave the house.

25 Score Card

I am ashamed to say that I have lived here for about 15 years or so and I just got my 25 Score card.  Believe me, I have always wanted one.  I just never really knew how to get one.  I saw applications all over, but now a days, who fills out applications?  I mean I do everything online.

Well, guess what…you can join online at 25 Score

I love it.  There are so many great discounts to take advantage of all over our city.  Simply get in the habit of asking before you pay if the merchant takes the 25Score card.  If they do, most discounts are about 10%.

Tesoro Del Valle

Translation…”The Treasure of the Valley”

A few months ago our community center opened and it is also a treasure.  There is a gym, a big banquet room, two pools, sand volleyball court, tennnis courts, a huge pond, park, etc.  I mean I could go on.

There is also an area there called the Tesoro Adobe Historic Park.  It is the former home of Western films star Harey Carey.  L.A. County has set up free tours of his estate for residents to take of the historic site in Santa Clarita.  The park is located on Rancho Tesoro north of Copperhill.  (Up the street from the new Albertsons)

Canyon Country Man Killed

Yesterday evening sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of a man with a weapon in Canyon Country on the 25500 block of Sierra Highway.    58 year old Andres Garcia was shot to death during a confrontation with five deputies. The weapon turned out to be a realistic looking toy.

Target at Magic Mountain Pkwy

I love Target, but please…for the love of God!  Would somebody over there take control over the shopping carts in the parking lot?  I mean it is ridiculous.  There were more red carts in the parking lot today than there were cars.  It was crazy, they were everywhere.  If you would have looked at a satellite image of Target today, all you would have seen is red.

It isn’t for lack of employees.  I mean there are plenty of red shirts in there standing around doing nothing behind the customer service counter.
