California Pizza Kitchen is NOW OPEN

cpk-150x150 California Pizza Kitchen is NOW OPENThe long awaited CPK (California Pizza Kitchen) is finally open. CPK is located in the Bridgport Marketplace on Newhall Ranch and McBean. You can reach them at 661-259-2082 and place an order online.

If you have never been to a CPK you are missing out.  While pizza is in the name, it is much more than just a pizza place.  The menu has food opitions from all over the world and include awesome salads, pastas, soups, sandwiches and more.  My favorite is the BBQ Chicken Pizza.  Really the BEST.

Until the novelty wears off I’d recommend ordering ahead and eating at home, but eventually you’ll get a table without waiting an hour.  Par for the course for any new chain that opens up here in the SCV.  Maybe now the wait at Kabuki won’t be so bad.

Best Places to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day

green-beer-300x195 Best Places to Celebrate St. Patricks Day Whether you are looking to go and enjoy some good corned beef and cabbage or if you want to go out for a night of drunken debauchery here are my suggestions for where to go in the SCV.  Note, you don’t have to be Irish and neither does the restaurant to celebrate the luck of the Irish.

Egg Plantation -(661) 255-8222

Typically this is known as a breakfast place, but they are opening at 5pm and will have an Irish band from 6:30-10:30.  There will be plenty of Irish on the menu and there will be Guiness on tap as well as other specialty Irish drinks including green martinis.

The Londoner – 661-252-2597

Happy hour starts at 3pm and goes to 7pm where $1 will be given off all drinks.  Guiness will be served at happy hour prices all day.

Mulligan’s 661-255-3356

With a name like Mulligan’s you are expected to have a St. Patrick’s Day experience available for your diners and from what I can tell, they are gearing up for a night full of food, fun and festivities.

Salt Creek Grille – 661-222-9999

Salt Creek is offering an all-inclusive style dinner for around $20, green beer and in addition to that it is also GNO.

Sabor in Bridgeport Marketplace – 661-259-9002

Don’t let this Spanish name scare you away.  Sabor may not have traditional corned beef dinners, but I have a good feeling there will be a party atmosphere there and they may even have green margaritas available on request.

Salt Creek Grille GNO

martinis Salt Creek Grille GNOCougar alert!  Salt Creek Grille is inviting ladies (and gents too if you want) to come by on Tuesdays from 5pm-9pm for great deals on their awesome martinis and appetizers.  They are also awarding free movie tickets every half hour from 6-8.  As we head into spring the heated patio at Salt Creek is a great place to chill after a long day.

Salt Creek is in the Valencia Town Center by the movie theater and their steaks are awesome if you decide to stay for dinner.  They have a great event calendar online if Tuesdays don’t work for you.  The usually have great music also BTW.

Starbucks Now Has Value Meals

That’s right.  Starbucks® now offers a value meal, but they are calling them “pairings”.  This will be tricky because most value meals have numbers, but with Starbucks you will have to actually say the name of what you want.  Good luck to all the baristas explaining what the parings are to uncaffeinated customers in the early hours.  If they did end up using numbers would they use uno, due, tre, quattro? (Italian for 1,2,3,4). My guess is a grande sì!

Anyway they “pairings” are listed below:

Tall Brewed Coffee (12 fl oz) plus your choice of:
New Artisan Bacon Sandwich
New Artisan Ham Sandwich
Reduced-Fat Turkey Bacon Sandwich
Sausage Sandwich

Tall Caffè Latte (12 fl oz) plus your choice of:
Reduced-Fat Cinnamon Swirl Coffee Cake
Perfect Oatmeal

Price does not include tax and there are NO SUBSTITUTIONS!

Get $2.00 Coupon from Subway

subwaylogo Get $2.00 Coupon from SubwaySubway is offering a $2.00 coupon as part of a settlement in the state of California.  They only have 142,500 (weird number) available, so click here to see if you can still get yours.

Apparently there were claims made that not all specials were honored in every store, so they are making good with this offer.

Don’t forget Subway has $5.00 footlongs right now.  That’s a deal cuz most people can make two meals out of a foot long.

Charro Chicken Closed

Wow. Charro Chicken on Newhall Ranch Rd is now closed.  Not sure if any of you tried it, but it was a step up from El Pollo Loco.  The food was decent and they delivered.  Now buh bye to Charo Chicken and hello to Tri Tip Tacos.  Looks like this new restaurant will be moving in to the Charo Chicken spot soon.  They have the menu posted on the door and it looks close to being ready to open.

Sabor in Bridgeport Marketplace

I have a new favorite restaurant in Santa Clarita.  It’s been awhile since I’ve written a restaurant review, but this one really deserves it.

Sabor Mexican Restaurant in the Bridgeport Marketplace blows away any other Mexican restaurant in Santa Clarita. Why? Let me tell you.

A few things are important to me when it comes to chosing a favorite restaurant.  First off is the customer service, next is the food, then the drink quality/pricing, then the ambiance.  For me, those are the things that are important.  At Sabor I was pleasantly satisfied in all those areas.  Their wait staff is very friendly and welcoming.  The food is authentic and extremely FRESH. The drinks are…yumm! $8.00 for the house margarita that is big and you will only need one (or two).  If you like Sangria you will love it at Sabor. As far as the inside of Sabor, well it’s new so of course it’s very clean, but the cool thing is they have a nice patio.  That’s the thing that Don Cuco’s or La Cocina don’t have.  A great patio adds a comfort factor to dining out.  Especially if you have kids that tend to get restless after they finish their food.  With a nice patio the kids can run around a bit without bothering other customers inside the restaurant.

I went and had brunch there last Sunday and the brunch is so good with excellent ceviche and homemade corn tortilla quesadillas.  Brunch was $18.00 and well worth it.

If you drive by Sabor on any given evening you’ll see there is a long wait to get in there, as with most new restaurants in town.  Once the newness of it wears off I imagine it’ll be easier to find a seat.

So cheers to Sabor.
