Bike to Work Day

Do you have the stamina to bike to work?  I don’t.  In fact, I don’t even own a bike, but for those of you that want to give this a go, Thursday May 15th is your lucky day. :)

Dozens of local businesses will join the City of Santa Clarita’s 5th Annual Bike to Work Day Challenge on Thursday, May 15. This event corresponds with the state-wide Bike to Work Week, the biggest bicycle commute in California, May 12 through 16. The Bike to Work Day Challenge is a friendly competition among Santa Clarita businesses to see which employer can get the most employees to bike to work on May 15.

The City has teamed up with Metro, L.A. County Bicycle Coalition & Newhall Bicycle to host public pit stops where cyclists can stop for refreshments, receive giveaways, and information on cycling. The pit stops are open from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on the day of the challenge and are located at: front of City Hall on 23920 Valencia Blvd, the City’s Corporate Yard, located at 25650 Rye Canyon Road; Trail Access at Newhall Avenue and 16th Street, hosted by Newhall Bicycle; and Trail Access at Camp Plenty and Soledad Canyon, hosted by the L.A. County Bicycle Coalition.
